Dr Angus Hsu studied medicine at University of Cambridge and University College London, graduating with a MA (Hons) and MBBS degree. During his time at Cambridge, Dr Hsu completed an intercalated BSc degree in pharmacology with a research project on the novel nucleic acid binding Alba proteins. After qualifying as a doctor, Dr Hsu worked in Newham University Hospital and Queen's Hospital. During the tenure, Dr Hsu was actively involved in teaching medical students and providing training to the nursing staff. He has organized mock exams for medical students and acted as an examiner for undergraduate exams. For his accomplishment, Dr Hsu was awarded a Certificate of Commitment to Teaching from the NHS. Dr Hsu also undertook a diabetes audit commissioned by Clinical Commissioning Group to improve patient care and the findings were presented at a local GP meeting. Committed to contributing to the community, Dr Hsu has worked closely with non-profit charitable organization serving the Chinese Community in London. He was the honorable speaker at regular health seminars and sponsored author on health-related topics in periodic publications aimed at local elderly Chinese population in London.

Being a highly motivated individual, Dr Hsu has worked as a private tutor when he was an undergraduate and a doctor. He has over ten years experience in one-to-one and small group tuitions, focusing on biology and chemistry at all levels. Dr Hsu also took pride in guiding many prospective students into top UK medical schools, leveraging on insider knowledge on what admission tutors are looking for so that students can avoid common pitfalls.

Having found a real passion in teaching, Dr Hsu decided to embark on a full-time career in education - a field where he can inspire and have an active role in developing more future aspiring doctors. Before joining ARCH, he was the principal and top tutor at a tutorial school in Hong Kong. He has adopted a systematic approach to university application, focusing on medicine. Dr Hsu can offer comprehensive counseling ranging from pre-application requirements, choosing the correct medical schools, admission tests including UCAT and BMAT, personal statement review and interview preparation.

Dr Hsu never forgets to develop a student as an independent thinker with lifelong transferrable skills needed during and after university. Being an educator is a unique experience and seeing students achieving their full potential is an absolute pleasure. Medicine has instilled the core value of lifelong learning in Dr Hsu, which he will endeavor to instill in all of his students. In line with this, Dr Hsu has recently attended a course on 'Understanding Assessment and Effective Delivery' organized by Pearson.

At ARCH, Dr Hsu provides counseling to students applying to Medicine and Bio Sciences, with key focus on personal statement, admission tests (BMAT and UCAT) and all forms of interview preparation. In addition, he tutors chemistry and biology at all levels, mathematics and combined sciences up to IGCSE level.
