Our Team

Jonathan is an educator and curriculum developer, holding a Bachelor’s degree in English Language and Linguistics from York St. John University and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) from the University of Sunderland. With a specialisation in sociolinguistics and political discourse, Jonathan was invited to present his dissertation findings at an undergraduate conference, attended by academics and fellow undergraduates.

His journey in education, driven by a deep interest in linguistics, led Jonathan to complete his TEFL certification, and a PGCE, enhancing his educational credentials. During his studies Jonathan has published academic research regarding pedagogy and teaching efficacy for inclusive education. Jonathan's teaching philosophy is significantly influenced by his experiences in A-level Politics, where he was encouraged to lead debates, analyse complex ideas, and challenge conventional viewpoints. This early exposure to critical thinking and analytical debate has been a guiding principle in his approach to education, fostering an environment that values intellectual curiosity and robust discussion.  Prior to his current role at ARCH Education Group in Hong Kong, Jonathan enriched his teaching repertoire in Shanghai as an English Language Teacher. There, he was tasked with creating engaging and age-appropriate content for a diverse student body. His effective teaching methods and calm demeanour provided a conducive environment for students to excel and develop confidence. Jonathan also contributed to the professional development of fellow educators through his involvement in teacher training initiatives.

At ARCH, Jonathan teaches a variety of enrichment courses and provides individualised instruction in English Language and Literature. His teaching style blends academic rigour with creative approaches, making learning both intellectually challenging and enjoyable for his students.

Outside of his professional endeavours, Jonathan is passionate about politics, photography, and the arts. A collector of vinyl records, he delights in exploring the depths of musical history. His appreciation for modern art and a keen interest in travel reflect his expansive cultural interests and a desire for continuous personal and intellectual growth.
