After completing the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program at a top high school in the state of Missouri and with a perfect score on the science section of the ACT, Steven was awarded a full scholarship to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where he received his Bachelor of Science in geology with minors in chemistry, physics, and mathematics. Then while pursuing his Master of Science in geology from the University of Colorado Boulder, he received a fellowship from the National Science Foundation. He was also awarded a research grant from NASA during his PhD work in Geological Sciences in the School of Earth and Space Exploration at Arizona State University.  After spending six years working towards a PhD, Steven realized that his real passion lay in teaching others and has pursued this passion ever since.

From teaching at universities in the USA to private tutoring in Vietnam, Steven has done it all. With more than a decade of experience teaching students of all ages on a variety of subjects in the sciences, such as geology, chemistry, and physics, both in person and online. Through his experiences, he’s mastered intercultural communication skills required to effectively convey complex ideas to his pupils. His individualized lessons are always tailored to the needs of his students. In addition, his firsthand experience working as a scientist and co-authoring a peer-reviewed scientific paper make him uniquely qualified to pass on scientific knowledge. Whether the student is cementing basic knowledge or wanting to take their achievement to the next level, Steven can help them accomplish their goals.

Steven will be guiding students aiming to excel in your assessments and examinations for subjects of Geography and Chemistry.

While not teaching others, Steven likes to cultivate his own knowledge through reading and contemplating the complexities of life. He also likes to explore new countries and cultures. He and his wife have traveled to more than 20 countries spanning five continents.
