Reading Program Foundation Level
(AGES 7-8 / Y3-Y4 / G2-G3 / P2-3) (RF)
Theme: Wind in the Willows & Huckleberry Finn
From Huck Finn’s adventures on the Mississippi to Mr. Toad’s wild escapades, this course helps young learners develop essential reading and literary analysis skills. Through engaging stories and activities, students will build confidence in comprehension while exploring storytelling techniques.
Language Skills:
Students will learn to identify, analyse, and apply key literary techniques, including personification, onomatopoeia, characterization, and figurative language
Assessments:
At the end of each unit, students will complete a written test and a focused writing task:
• Unit 1 (Wind in the Willows): Written test + Letter-writing task
• Unit 2 (Huckleberry Finn): Written test + Short story writing
Writing Program Foundation Level
(AGES 7-8 / Y3-Y4 / G2-G3 / P2-3) (WF)
Theme: Expository & Descriptive Writing – Circus & Pets
Through discussions on circus animal treatment and responsible pet care, students will learn to express their ideas clearly in both informative and descriptive writing. Over the course, they will gradually develop a brochure for an animal sanctuary, applying their writing skills in a real-world format.
Language Skills:
Students will learn to identify, analyse, and apply key writing techniques, including modifiers, imperatives, sensory details, and persuasive language.
Assessments:
At the end of the unit, students will complete a written test and a focused writing task:
• Unit 1 (Across Week 1 & Week 2): Written test + Final Writing Task (Animal sanctuary brochure project)
